Choices and Consequences pt 1 betrayal continue

"Why, Ada?" the shaking of my body from loss of blood was a distraction from the anger in my voice.


She didn't move but stood her ground staring down at me, her gun aiming at my head.


"Lately it seems I only see your face behind a barrel of a gun," giving her my unamused smirk.


"Leon…" She said calmly taking a step forward towards me, ignoring my remark.


"Ada, if you still want to walk out of here alive I would not come any closer. Missing the first shot was no accident, but I won't miss again." The stern sound in my voice was clear and emotionally detached, glad my training kicked in again. She stopped, seductively pulling her torn dress to the side and sliding her gun back into its holster.


"Go ahead and shoot Leon, if it would make you feel better about Claire's death." She said it very carefully with empathy in her voice.


"She is not dead and that is no longer your concern!"


My heart tightened at the thought of the word, but I didn't want Ada to see how it affected me. Redfield's don't die, Raccoon City and the Harvard airport was proof of that. But why is Ada still standing here? She had a chance to leave, why come back to continue this? Why the hell did she shoot Claire? Ada's once beautiful brown eyes use to captivate me, were hiding something but what?

Leon… keep your guard up and get Claire out of here, every minute counts.


"Ada, I made a promise to Claire not to kill you and I will keep it unless she dies here.
At that point I won't be the only one to worry about if that happens. "A small smirk leaked through my lips at the thought of Chris's reaction. "Walk away now!"

She stared intently into my eyes with a softness that seemed out of her character, "Leon… they are not going to get here in time, her breathing is slowing down and she has lost a lot of blood."

Heat flooded my body… "Shut, up! She won't give up and I won't either!"
Come on, hold it together Leon; she is just trying to get to you.


The look on Ada's face shifted from the unknown softness back to her neutral expression. In her life she must have went through the same training to be able to control her emotions so smoothly. She slowly started to reach down to her leg holster, watching me follow her every movement.


"A little nervous are we or do you see something you like?" she cloyingly smiled at me.


"Nervous, pft... but if you want to test my limits keep going!" mocking a smirk back.


"Leon, I have something that can save her. It is a new serum that my company has been working on to increase the healing capability of the body."


How can she act like nothing in our past happened? My fingers tightened on the trigger, the sweat making it harder to grip. "You are expecting me to use an experimental VIRUS on her!"  


"It is a serum, the same one you have in your pocket that you took from the Lab." With a sincere tone her eyes never moved from mine.  "It is called the H"…she paused for a moment trying to carefully choose the next word.


"Say it, a virus!" finishing her sentence abruptly. "Not that I don't trust you but I need to get Claire out of here," making sure she heard my sarcasm.

Looking down at the pale and still body of Claire, time was not on our side.
